Armstrong Caught In Tour de France Stage 2 Crash, No Yellow Jersey

Armstrong, after an unlucky day of crashes and slow-downs, remains 5th overall in the 2010 Tour de France. 3:19 off the leader, Sylvian Chavanel, he moved one space down the ranks due to his spill. He wasn’t the only one to fall, though. Alberto Contador, the title holder, and Andy and Frank Schleck went down too.

According to Armstrong “It was as if someone had put something on the road, it was so surreal. There was no way to stay on your bike.” Armstrong sustained abrasion on his hip and elbow, but at least he didn’t break his collar bone or crack a rib.
