City Bus vs. Bicycle - Bicycle Injuries

Settlement
Camp Pendleton, CA - City Bus vs. Bicycle - Crash that led to a substantial settlement, and a change in the national corporate bus training policy to improve bus-bicycle safety.

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a settlement in a recent case involving a tragic bike crash which occurred last year on the United States Marine Corps' Camp Pendleton Base. The Law Firm of Richard L. Duquette represented a Bicyclist who was severely injured when he and two others were struck by a bus owned by First Transit, Inc. a national corporation. One rider was killed in the collision. The financial terms of the settlement are confidential, but the case also has wide-ranging implications for the safety of Bicyclists throughout San Diego County. As part of the settlement, North County Transit District (NCTD) will work in concert and good faith with First Transit, Inc. the company which operates the bus line, to further advance their Bicycle Safety Program. They will be working with the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition with the goal of preventing such accidents from occurring in the future. This mandate will hopefully improve bus-bicycle safety in San Diego County and nationally.
