San Diego Jury
Focus
"A Trial Laboratory" SM
Confidence is preparation. Everything else is beyond your
control.
~Richard Kline
If you're an attorney and
want to polish your Jury Trial Presentation and you
represent a plaintiff Injury victim or a person accused
of a crime, I’d like to help you and your client.
The price starts at just $1,200 - $1,500 - Call me now to schedule
your own Custom Focus Group and see your case really take
shape. 760-730-0500
This is what you'll receive from Mr. Duquette:
Richard Duquette will oppose your presentation – (Voir
Dire, opening and cross exam) so a balanced
case is presented to the Jury. This also
helps prepare your client to testify.
This simulates a real jury trial – in a short time.
Richard Duquette will facilitate and debrief the Jury
– during and after their deliberations, which helps
glean key information for a winning trial
strategy.
Richard Duquette will locate a cross section of jurors; have
them sign confidentiality agreements, and
evaluations.
A video and audio tape is also included, for you clients
review. (I often re-listen to the focus audio
tape in my car before trial.)
You watch the Jury deliberate on a remotely
located
television.
A written report will be generated by Mr. Duquette,
highlighting
key factors relevant to communication of your
story. This includes
identifying Juror bias. The criteria
and formula integrated into your
report represents 10 years of focus
experience and 22 years of Jury Trial
experience.
See my Jury Verdicts.
You will receive Voir Dire motions for more time to pick a
jury and a pocket brief supporting your
challenge for cause.
You will receive feedback on your (and our suggested use of)
inexpensive demonstrative
evidence and technology. I will
let you experiment with my Elmo and LCD projector. (We can even
consult regarding a PowerPoint
presentation for an additional fee.)
Mr. Duquette will assist you in putting all the ideas
learned from the focus group into a workable
story, which can be easily converted into
Voir Dire questions and an opening statement.
We provide coffee and water. Catering adds to your cost, but is
available if you wish.
Experience:
For the last 10 years and over 100 focus groups – see
my Jury Trials

I’ve perfected the focus group process. I have trained with
many Jury Trial Lawyers and
Psychologist experts and have tried over
50 Jury Trials – criminal defense and injury
cases since licensed in 1983. I have
“focused” many of my own cases that have gone to
trial as well as those of friends... then
watched the jury trials come alive. In other words,
I’ve tested my methods in
live trials, and then adjusted my method. (One of my focus
groups (almost ten years ago) involved a
case against the phone (GTE) and electric
(SCE) companies. The electric company settled
pretrial, and the plaintiff prevailed
against the phone company after a Riverside Jury
trial).
I have studied Jury Trial lawyering at the Western Institute of
Trial Advocacy at the Laramie Wyoming
School of Law. (Criminal law) and at Mr.
Spence’s Trial Lawyer College in Dubois, Wyoming.
These
were four day and three week experiences.
(My graduation certificate and class photo proves I’m
Spence
trained. A distinguishing credential.)
I regularly attend continuing education presentations, with
particular interest in jury bias,
psychodrama, and psychology in the
courtroom. I’m a member of the American Association
of
Jury Consultants.
I have conducted seminars teaching my focus group techniques to the
San Diego Consumer
Attorneys – (Lab), San Diego Public
Defenders (training session) and the Bar Association of
North
San Diego County – (Criminal Law
Section).
My Commitment to the legal profession and you:
Since starting my practice the day after I was sworn in on June 3,
1983, I have dedicated my entire
career to helping ordinary people beat the
insurance industry, the government and other large
corporations. In other words, I’ve
never switched sides because I’d make more money, or to
become
popular.
My jury laboratory is just that, an ever growing and developing use
of training and creative ideas to help
ordinary people obtain justice in
America’s courtrooms, regardless of age, race, religion,
nationality,
sexual preference or politics.
Last, I want to improve the image of lawyers, and assist the
justice system to economically do jury trials…
which I believe is a fading art
form.
