DRUG COURT
 
Drug court stated out as an experimental program in San Diego. The program is now engrained in our criminal justice system, and targets repeat drug offenders, typically addicts who do not qualify for PC 1000 (deferred entry of judgment - DEOJ). There are eligibility criteria, but a subjective interview occurs to screen candidates. It's a very intensive program, and if the candidate is successful, the charges are dismissed. If the candidate fails, he can be incarcerated.
